Each year KC CREW presents its Annual Impact Award, which honors a person or company from the Kansas City commercial real estate industry for their impact on the community as well as their outstanding achievements. This year we added two additional award categories – Project of the Year (which recognizes a commercial real estate project in the greater Kansas City area that has made a significant impact on the real estate industry) and Member of the Year (which recognizes a member of KC CREW who has demonstrated her commitment to the organization and the Kansas City area through her volunteerism and service within KC CREW and to the entire community.
On February 17th we hosted our ninth annual awards presentation at the AIA Space downtown Kansas City where we honored our special guests – the "2010 All Stars":
- The Impact Award recognizes a person or company who has made a significant impact on the greater Kansas City commercial real estate community. 2010 Recipient: Zimmer Real Estate Services, L.C.

The Zimmer Team
Zimmer's work on the National Security Campus was highlighted in its recognition with The Impact Award at the KC CREW 2010 Impact Awards. Zimmer's nomination for the award was based on its long-standing commitment and impact to the Kansas City community and its community. During the past year, Zimmer's work also included marketing CenterPoint Intermodal Center-Kansas City, which is being developed on the site of the former Richards Gebaur Air Force Base and the successful marketing of office space at Union Station Kansas City. During 2010, Zimmer's leasing team secured leases for more than 70,000 square feet of space at Union Station, providing the iconic building with revenue stream not seen since its renovation in the late 1990s. Other former projects mentioned as examples of Zimmer's continual impact on the area were the Village West development in Wyandotte County, Kansas, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and the Sprint World Headquarters Campus. Zimmer continues to serve as master developer and owner's representative for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas for Village West and is currently overseeing the development of The Sporting Park, which will be the new home of Sporting Kansas City, the local Major League Soccer franchise. The Sporting Park was recognized at the event as the Project of the Year award winner.
- The Project of the Year Award recognizes a commercial real estate project in the greater Kansas City area that has made a significant impact on the real estate industry. 2010 Recipient: Sporting Club / The Sporting Park

Robb Heineman, President of Sporting Club Kansas City
Since breaking ground on January 20th, 2010, Kansas City soccer fans have been eagerly awaiting the first home game for Sporting KC this upcoming June. Sporting Kansas City and local architecture firm Populous have used experiences and examples from sports facilities around the world to provide an intimate venue with great views for all 18,500 fans that will surely offer one of the best home field advantages in American soccer.
With this stadium, Sporting Kansas City has further established Kansas City as a soccer town that is not only one of the best in the MLS, but also attracts some of the world's most popular soccer clubs and national teams. It is an asset for the entire Kansas City community (their hometown), and a new generation of soccer fans, to enjoy.
This was also an impressive deal involving the United Government of Wyandotte County and the State of Kansas. It is a continuation of the success at Village West, and paves the way for future development including a new Cerner campus.
Sporting Kansas City is the only professional sports organization in Kansas City with local ownership, and their dedication to the Kansas City community is evident in this project.
- The Member of the Year Award recognizes a member of KC CREW who has demonstrated her commitment to the organization and the Kansas City area through her volunteerism and service within KC CREW and to the entire community. 2010 Recipient: Julie A. Headley, Vice President of Thellman Financial Corporation

This is the first year that KC CREW has recognized one of our own members with an Impact Award. Our inaugural recipient is Julie Headley, KC CREW's current Director of Sponsorship and the chapter Treasurer during 2010. Julie has been a member of KC CREW since 2004. Since that time she has served on just about every committee within the chapter as a member or co-chair and has gone on to direct several of them while serving on the Board. She has been involved in all of our community service projects over the years, while continuously offering assistance where needed throughout the organization.
Julie always agrees to take on whatever role she is asked to assume within KC CREW and she consistently volunteers to fill needs which arise within the chapter. She spends many hours each week devoted to service to KC CREW. Julie's service to KC CREW has been exemplary. We also thank her employer, Thellman Financial Corporation, for allowing Julie to take such an active role.

The evening also included the presentation of the Past President Award which honored Diana Ennis for her leadership as chapter president in 2010. Her time, service, and guidance were instrumental in KC CREW reaching its 2010 goals. Thank you Diana!
