  • Diana Ennis (Stewart Title) benefited from her KC CREW network via new title work orders from fellow members Suzie Aron, Allison Tanner and Julia Taylor.
  • Hayley Wilson (Contract Furnishings Office Furniture) received a referral from fellow CREW member Naomi Menefee who had a client needing a movable wall.
  • Marcia Charney (Stinson Morrison Hecker) and Shirley Harpool (VAD, LLC) utilized their KC CREW association by working together/discussing clients with mutual goals.
  • Jenn Shorrock (Embassy Landscape Group) and Lisa Lippelgoos (Deffenbaugh) used their KC CREW network to connect regarding recycling options and potential projects for each of their companies.
  • Cindy Huwe (Robinette Demolition) was able to refer Amanda Whiteford (Terracon) to a concrete recycling company via their KC CREW connection.
  • Marla Bell (Polsenelli Shughart) and Celia Richey (Centerline Capital) used their association through KC CREW to discuss employment opportunities.
  • Nancy Pinkham (Shook, Hardy & Bacon) and Lisa Tomlinson (Bank of Blue Valley) used their KC CREW connection to arrange a meeting for discussing commercial loan transactions benefiting their mutual clients.
  • Shelley Rosetta (Encompas) obtained a development opportunity with a client via her KC CREW connection with Debbie Leonard (Jones Development).
  • Linda Laurence (Missouri Bank) gained two new small business customers and financed a commercial building in the Crossroads through a referral from KC CREW member Michelle Suter (Commercial Law Group).
  • Cheri Ricky (Citizens Bank) was able to finance a large apartment deal for a client of Linda Peroff (Cohen Esrey) via their KC CREW connection
  • Jenn Shorrock (Embassy Landscape) and Stephanie Mills (Scott Rice Office Works) are utilizing their connection through KC CREW by sharing companies on calling PM groups, and what the market holds in their vendor world.
  • Jennifer Miller (PSI) and Jill Beisma (EAE, Inc.) are collaborating on how their companies can partner on WBE projects.
  • Shelly Heflin (Premier Bank) put Patsy Stuke (American Osage Consulting) in touch with a potential employee, whom they hired.
  • Christa Krumm of First National Bank referred a client, KC Baptist Temple to Diana Ennis at Stewart Title for title insurance.
  • Jill Biesma (EAE, Inc.) gained an environmental assessment via a referral from Traci Peterson (Bryan Cave, LLP). Jill and Traci met through working together on different committees within KC CREW.
  • Elizabeth Fast (Spencer Fane) had a bank client that needed a Phase I Environmental audit in conjunction with making an SBA loan, so Elizabeth referred her client to Jill Biesma (EAE, Inc.).
  • Jenni Glass (Overland Park Economic Development Council) met John (American Title) at a KC CREW event, and after speaking, John joined the Overland Park Chamber.
  • Shanna Vance, Integra Realty Resources, was able to promptly provide Security Savings Bank, with comparable real estate listings for a project outside of the KC area. Additionally, the bank was able to refer appraisal work to Integra.
  • Integra received several assignments and opportunities from KC CREW relationships in the third quarter of 2008.
  • Mark One and Opus are considering an opportunity to do business together - this connection was made through a KC CREW relationship.
  • KCK Chamber needed a real estate development attorney for the KS Bioscience - this was accomplished between relationships developed through KC CREW.
  • Michelle Suter had a client that needed a person within 24 hours to serve as a court appointed receiver for 84 properties. Michelle called Elizabeth Fast who found her a candidate within just a couple of hours
  • Elizabeth Fast (Spencer Fane Britt & Browne) represented the lender on a large apartment complex in downtown KCMO. The lender had to foreclose on the property and needed a broker to help him sell the property. Elizabeth referred her client to Linda Peroff (Colliers Turley Martin Tucker). Both Elizabeth and Linda are Past Presidents of KC CREW.
  • Linda Peroff (Colliers Turley Martin Tucker) was the broker selling an apartment complex east of the Plaza. The prospective buyer needed an attorney, so Linda referred the prospective buyer to Elizabeth Fast (Spencer Fane Britt & Browne). After this buyer purchased the apartment complex, the buyer needed a property manager, so Elizabeth referred her client to Ellen Todd (Curry Real Estate Company). Elizabeth and Ellen know each other after serving on the KC CREW Programs Committee.
  • Midwest Mechanical Service has preventive maintenance contracts with two KC CREW members' companies: PSI and Brotherhood Bank & Trust.

Congratulations to Cydney Gurgens , Amy Slattery and Julia Taylor for being nominated to CREW Network’s 20 Under 40 program (2010)!  Our chapter had the most nominees and we were also the only chapter with multiple winners - Cydney and Julia both won!

Chamber names Mark One Electric president as Chair

The president of Mark One Electric Co. Inc. has been selected as chairwoman of the Kansas City Kansas Area Chamber of Commerce. The chamber announced Rosana Privitera Biondo’s new role at its Thursday annual meeting, according to a release. She’s a founding employee of Mark One, a specialty electrical contracting firm, and has been president and owner since 1994. According to its Web site, the company is based in Kansas City, Mo., but has a logistics center in Kansas City, Kan. Biondo’s community roles have included serving as vice president of Women Construction Owners & Executives and past national chairwoman of the National Association of Women in Construction’s Business Owners Council. She succeeds 2009 Chairman Tom Burke, president of Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Diana Ennis, KC CREW 2010 President featured in MetroWireKC  The article in the March 10, 2010 e-newsletter offered a short Q&A session with Diana, discussing how and why she made her career at Stewart Title, what her and her staff will be focusing on in 2010, what’s going on at her company and how does it stand out in Kansas City, what her experience has been like as KC CREW chapter president, and her pastime hobby as a radio DJ.

KC CREW President Judges Capstone Awards  In her capacity as 2010 KC CREW President, on February 12, 2010, Diana Ennis served as one of the judges for the Kansas City Business Journal’s 2010 Capstone Awards. Awards were given for the categories of Community Impact, Broker, Architectural Design, Green Design and Project (Architectural and Site Design, Environmental Advancement, Community Need and Visionary Impact).

Member Featured in UMKC Alumni Magazine
Our own Jennifer Gach was featured in the February 2010 UMKC Alumni Magazine! The article discussed how Jennifer got started in the real estate industry, influenced by her father and taking courses at the UMKC Lewis White Real Estate Center.

Congratulations Patsy Stuke!
Congratulations to KC CREW's own Patsy Stuke – American Osage Consulating, Patsy's company, was recently named "Supplier of the Year, Class I" by the Mid America Minority Business Development Council at its recent award luncheon. Patsy is also a member of the Membership Committee. Congratulations Patsy!

KC CREW member Rosana Privitera-Biondo honored at LMC’s Annual Awards dinner
Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan lauded the Labor-Management Council of Greater Kansas City (LMC) as an example of how "working together things can get done" at the LMC's 30th Anniversary and 11th Annual Awards Dinner.

The LMC awarded its Leadership in Labor-Management Cooperation Award to the Kansas City, MO Workforce Board, on which KC CREW member Rosie Privitera-Biondo serves. The KCMO Workforce Board, which monitors the recently-implemented ordinance enhancing the number of minorities and women hired for city-financed construction projects, is comprised of leaders from the labor, contractor and minority communities who helped craft the historic ordinance.

Rosana Privitera-Biondo, President of MarkOne Electric and Past President of KC CREW, has been re-elected to serve on the board again for 2009. We’re proud of your service Rosie!
