The Programs Committee is responsible for organizing monthly lunch programs that will appeal to a broad audience of various professional disciplines in the commercial real estate field, with a speaker that is well known in the area. In addition to monthly lunch programs the committee organizes happy hour events that provide additional networking opportunities.
Our mission as a committee is to plan quality lunch programs and happy hour events which provide an opportunity for guest speakers to present informative and relevant topics/ projects related to current real estate market on local and national level while fostering networking opportunities.
The committee discusses and decides on the monthly luncheon topics and happy hour locations during committee meetings. In preparation for these events the committee is responsible for the following tasks:
Speaker: A committee member will be assigned to each month and will be responsible for contacting the speaker to: confirm participation, answer questions the speaker may have about lunch details and KC CREW, forward details about the program to committee members, meet the speak the day of the event, introduce the speaker to CREW members, and introduce speaker before program if needed.
Facilities and Food: One Committee member will be assigned as the liaison between the committee and venue. This responsibility includes confirming the following with the venue: head count numbers, menu selection, special requests, room arrangements and serving issues.
Registration Desk: One committee member is assigned responsibility for the registration desk. Responsibilities include: Coordinating with CREW Network to obtain nametags before events, ensure the table is covered by at least two KC CREW members for check-in, making sure guests and members have paid for the event, passing out nametags, and recording information as needed.
Happy Hour: Committee members responsible for Happy Hour events will communicate with the event contacts/location and organize setup of event. Happy Hour locations will be discussed during committee meetings.
Lunch Discussion Series: The quarterly lunch discussion series provides an educational opportunity for members to learn more about a specific topic. While topics for our monthly lunches are designed to be of interest to a broad audience, the topics for our lunch discussion series are more specific and detailed. This is a member’s only opportunity to speak on a topic and that member hosts the lunch.
Communicating: In addition to planning monthly luncheons and happy hour events, the Programs Committee collaborates closely with the Sponsorship and Communications committees to develop the announcements for these events.
The Programs Committee meets the fourth Wednesday of every month in the Opus NW office located at 460 Nichols Rd., Kansas City, MO 64112.
The Programs Committee is always open to having new members join us to continue with the tradition of developing great monthly programs and successful happy hour events.
