Purpose
KC CREW's Community Services Committee strives to involve members of KC CREW in charitable projects and organizations benefiting the metropolitan Kansas City area. Past events have included KC CREW golf tournaments, the pre and post events, a wine tasting and cooking demonstration, clothing drives and participation in the Women's Employment Network Heart-to-Heart Luncheon. In addition, the Community Services Committee has sponsored a Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure team and has recruited volunteers to work on several Habitat for Humanity houses.
Committee Mission
KC CREW encourages its members to give back to the community, and the Community Services Committee is charged with identifying and implementing opportunities for members to get involved.
2011 Goals
- Facilitate volunteer opportunities for membership
- Work with the Programs Committee to plan and organize a Community Service related event
- Participate in KC CREW golf tournament to generate charitable dollars
- Identify potential charitable partners or scholarship funds
- Educate members on CREW Foundation and U-CREW
Main Tasks
- Organize a charitable drives (i.e. coat drive, food drive, etc.)
- Organize and sponsor a KC CREW team for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Race for the Cure
- Organize a group of members to support Johnson County Christmas Bureau
- Plan at least one Happy Hour event per year with proceeds being donated to a charitable organization
- Appoint a liaison to co-ordinate with charitable partner about volunteer opportunities
- Help coordinate the Annual Golf Tournament post-event including the silent auction
- Conduct a member survey to identify potential charitable partners or scholarship ideas
- Plan at least one event to promote CREW Foundation and/or U-CREW
- Work with the Programs Committee to plan and organize community service related Happy Hours and other events
Monthly Committee Meetings
The Community Services Committee meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7:30 a.m. at Polsinelli Shugart located at 700 W 47th Street, 10th Floor Boardroom in Kansas City, MO.
